We just wrapped up a dual range hood installation for an outdoor grill area in West Des Moines - and this one is shaping up to be a really solid build. Two hoods, framed in and set flush into the structure, ready to handle serious airflow once this kitchen is up and running.
Ventilation is one of those things people don't always think about until it's too late in the build process. With two cooking zones planned for this outdoor space, a single hood just wasn't going to cut it. Getting two units in at this stage - while the framing and ZIP System sheathing are still exposed - is exactly the right way to do it. Everything gets set correctly before the stucco goes on.
That's the part we really appreciate about working alongside K&V Homes. They build outdoor spaces the right way, and they think ahead. When the builder and the appliance installer are on the same page early, the finished product is always cleaner. No afterthought cutouts, no awkward workarounds.
Stucco is coming next, and after that this outdoor kitchen is going to be close to done. It's always satisfying to see a project come together in stages like this - each phase locking in the one before it.
Built-in appliance installation in new construction and custom outdoor builds is a big part of what we do. Getting the placement, the framing coordination, and the rough-in details right before everything gets covered up - that's where the real work happens.
