This West Des Moines kitchen had a great design going for it - white shaker cabinets, quartz countertops, a gorgeous arched hood surround with subway tile. The bones were all there. What it needed was appliances installed cleanly so the whole space could actually come together the way it was designed to look.

We handled the full lineup here. That includes a Zephyr 36" hood insert fitted into the custom arch above the GE gas cooktop, a GE wall oven with a microwave trim kit stacked above it, and a GE dishwasher tucked into the island. Each one of these installs has its own set of requirements - proper venting for the hood, electrical and gas connections for the cooktop, precise cabinet cutout alignment for the wall oven stack, and water supply plus drain lines for the dishwasher. Getting all of it right in one kitchen takes experience.

The microwave trim kit is something worth mentioning. A lot of people overlook it, but it's what gives a built-in microwave that seamless, furniture-like look instead of the appliance appearing like it was just shoved into a hole. When it's installed correctly with the right kit for the unit, the gap between the microwave and the surrounding cabinetry disappears. That's the difference between a kitchen that looks finished and one that almost looks finished.

Same idea with the hood insert. Dropping a 36" blower unit into a custom arched surround requires more care than a standard over-the-range install. The unit has to sit flush, vent properly, and not interfere with the surrounding millwork. When it's done right, it becomes part of the architecture of the room rather than an afterthought.

This is exactly the kind of work we do - multiple appliances, one kitchen, all done to a standard that holds up to the design around it. Built-in appliance installation is rarely just plug-and-play, and kitchens like this one are a good reminder of why proper installation matters as much as the appliances themselves.
